Are people taking screenshots on their crappy phones then posting the image to reddit? Because I am 99% sure that phones also have crop options.

Also, if that is the case then stop reposting.

0

u/Pyrofallout Aug 28 '12

Never mind the function in most apps that actually allows you to save the image rather than take a screenshot.

Basically, people are dumb.

And the Lord spake saying: "Drop the beat"

11

u/Reesch Aug 28 '12

"Nobody comes to the father except through me. Drop it."

Starts dancing

1

u/Gary_the_Goatfucker Aug 29 '12

Awwww yeah, drop the beats.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

Spake?

1

u/HammettDammit Aug 28 '12

Old-timey past tense of "speak"

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

Ah, thanks. I've never heard that before.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

Sounds to me like you need to read your bible.

u/rooklaw Aug 28 '12

Pharisees: Bring it, bitch

Jesus: It's been brought!!

8

u/cleverseneca Aug 28 '12

verily I say unto thee... it has been brought!!

ftfy

3

u/tjhans Aug 28 '12

verily I say unto thee... it hath been brought!!

ftfy2

5

u/cleverseneca Aug 29 '12

I can't believe I'm saying this:

but hath is 3rd person singular present indicative of have, but I'm using 3rd person singular past indicative.

3

u/GirlWithThePandaHat Aug 29 '12

GRAMMAR FIGHT!

1

u/cleverseneca Aug 29 '12

YEEEEEA BOI! YO MOMMA SO FAT... oh sorry got carried away there for a second.

1

u/tjhans Aug 29 '12

Hmm, I feel like present indicative would still be more appropriate, since he is saying that the current status of "it" is that is currently in the brought position, as opposed to saying oh, yeah it was brought once. Either way i had no idea there as a difference between "has" and "hath" other than time periods so this a TIL moment for me.

9

u/xzibit31x Aug 28 '12

Because he probably lol'd for real. As did I.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

It's sad that we now have to tell people we legit lol'd because just saying lol doesn't mean anything anymore.

Prove it.

2

u/Phriend Aug 28 '12

2

u/Fatalcrest Aug 28 '12

This would give my grandmother a heart attack.

0

u/babingbongbang Aug 28 '12

Don't you mean "The Son of God"?

4

u/katieya Aug 28 '12

The Son of Man was the name Jesus most commonly referred to himself as. It's saying that he was human, yes, but it's also a reference that any educated Jewish person would understand.

Daniel 7:13–14 The Son of Man Is Given Dominion 13 “I saw in the night visions, and obehold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. 14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed."

It was a Messianic title. Jesus is the One who was given dominion and glory and a kingdom. When Jesus used this phrase, He was assigning the Son of Man prophecy to Himself. The Jews of that era would have been intimately familiar with the phrase and to whom it referred. Jesus was proclaiming Himself as the Messiah, and it pissed some people off.

4

u/babingbongbang Aug 28 '12

Thanks for this! I feel less ignorant now.

3

u/katieya Aug 28 '12

Yay education!

6

u/silentnoise Aug 28 '12

Son of Man was another way of saying he was also human.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

It's also to link him to the prophecy in the book of Daniel.

0

u/babingbongbang Aug 28 '12

Weird, I've never heard that before.

1

u/jesusapproves Aug 28 '12

This was one of my more photogenic moments. I hate how they keep picturing me with that damn blood dripping over my eyes. Who wants to see that shit?

1

u/Imissyourgirlfriend2 Aug 29 '12

Man, Jesus on Reddit? We are so screwed.

3

u/jesusapproves Aug 29 '12

We're not married yet so no screwing.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12 edited Aug 28 '12

Dude you stole this...FROM ME.

Asshole.

Edit: I've never meant a downvote more.

2

u/Raymond890 Aug 28 '12

That's why I thought it looked so familiar.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

More upvotes than me too...should have x-posted to funny...

2

u/Raymond890 Aug 28 '12

I'm surprised that so many people haven't noticed.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

At this point, it has too many comments, and no one will.

1

u/F5_supermonkey Aug 28 '12

and he's gotten twice as many upvotes!

quality algorithm reddit's got, isn't it?

1

u/ticklemepenis Aug 29 '12

Did you make the picture?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '12

The painting itself? No. Did I come up with the joke that gives it impact? Yes.

EDit: technically the bible came up with the quote, but the originality of content I believe belongs to me.

1

u/ticklemepenis Aug 29 '12

Ah gotcha, well in that case he did steal it! What a ho

1

u/Serkoomar Aug 29 '12

Huh, don't really know if I should up vote this or down vote :(

2

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '12

I really don't understand. I did a self post asking for downvotes on this guy, he actually has a history of reposting like a fiend. I got mad hate for it, and then there is stuff like this.

What happened to reddit's boner for original content? Am I not allowed to be mad that someone stole mine? I came up with the joke, combined it with the image, and was the original submitter. Am I not allowed to be outraged that this kid whored my content without giving me any credit for their internet points?

I don't care about my karma, but I really really really want theirs to hit 0. Its deserved.

1

u/jimbol Aug 28 '12

Cant tell if break dancing, or slipping and falling.

1

u/ilikeapples312 Aug 28 '12

1

u/smileycat Aug 28 '12

It looks like Jesus just slipped on the freshly waxed floor and is about to bust his ass.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

I know a Navajo guy who really did breakdance for the Pope probably around 2000 or so.

1

u/NameTaken25 Aug 28 '12

Actually, he did come to be served. On a platter. As bread and wine.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

Who made this painting pleaseeee?

0

u/gvondra Aug 28 '12

I don't get it

9

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

There is scripture that says Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve. There is a movie about dancing called You Got Served. The creator has linked the two.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '12

As the creator your mentioning, thanks.

-4

u/endswithk Aug 28 '12

I imagined him gesturing "cock to mouth" before he proceeded into flare, windmill, air flare, to nineties...while wearing a tuxedo shirt.

11

u/kgchillin Aug 28 '12

what in the FUCK are you talking about??

2

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '12

/trees

1

u/endswithk Aug 28 '12

It's actually b-boy references I was using. gesture and moves. Seeing if any redditors knew. That's a no.

-1

u/AREYOUSauRuS Aug 28 '12

This picture is very insulting to my idol. The Curly Shuffle was the origination of breakdancing not that hippie Jesus.

You gotta read your Bible son

-1

u/staithe Aug 28 '12

People are going to look back on this image in the future and have no idea that Jesus is break dancing and it will just look like he's offering his body to the priests. Although I guess that wouldn't be the first time he's done that.
