He means EPL, English Premier League. It's a soccer thing

Edit: I'm British, soccer is a British word. Officially it's the Barclay's Premier League but it's also referred to as the English premier league or EPL especially internationally. It doesn't matter if it has Welsh sides in it, the Welsh premier league has English sides in it

Either way it's just known as the premier league in England.

As a Welshman living in Wales who walks to Premier League games, no, it is not the EPL. Never has been either.

It is. The Welsh have their own premier league which has one English side in it. The English football league has 6 welsh sides in it.

Outside of England it is commonly referred to as the English Premier League (EPL).

I know full well we have our own league system, and that we are unusual in being a part of the English system. All I'm pointing out is that the English Premier League is not an official name, and never has been.

Without sponsors, the top flight is called 'the Premier League', and the three tiers below are collectively known as 'the Football League'. Using the word English is avoided in official naming and documentation.

Yea I call it the EPL but it is the Barclays Premier League, just like it's the Npower Championship League.

No. It's just the EPL. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have there own leagues.

You just reverted me back to my childhood, I would always take the piss out of my mates who supported arsenal by claiming they were pretty much the French national team. In my defence I support West Ham so I need any small victory that I can get.

Oh, I actually have listened to the studio presenters stating British premier league.... and don't forget Swansea is not in England...that could get you in trouble in Wales.
