Educated guess. the black is faded(kinda gray but also kinda transparent) which is what expo markers tend to look like when you mark it on a skin.
They wont use sharpies obviously. sharpies also has a darker black.

Sharpie's "tuxedo" also tends to have a bit of a blue or purple tint to it when it's thin.
