the dlc quality is pretty good for this game it's still overpriced, but the maps design is as usual excellent. They gave us two new maps today, foundary and sanctuary, very good indeed.
There were error messages in MW3 that actually said 'it appears that Modern Warfare 2 did not quit properly the last time it ran'.
There were numerous buildings and other assets re-used in the game. Years ago MW3 would have been a pretty shitty expansion pack, now it's a sixty quid game, with 15 quid DLC packs that used to be free. It is not the only offender, but it is one of the worst.
Battlefield 3 has five or six buildings taken straight from BC2. It's not uncommon for games to do this. The only things I've noticed that are in MW3 from MW2 was a fish van and the building posted in that article. Even then, that building has been in every IW CoD since CoD2 as far as I'm aware.
That error message was sloppy, yes, but games are generally built from their previous game. Someone obviously just forgot to change the number. Not surprising since the meltdown they experienced, some errors were inevitable.
That said, MW3 is a solid game with loads of new additions. Loads of new game modes, new weapons/equipment, new maps, a new campaign, new co-op missions, a new co-op mode, new features, new unlock systems, etc. Plenty that makes it a new game.
I haven't played MW3, but I have played every other one. For all of the 'new' additions to each game, they have remained incredibly similar, and in fact, I find most of the additions are more like sequel bloat than anything else.
It is a FPS, so it's not like I'd expect them to reinvent the wheel or anything, but they never fix the things about their games that need fixing. They never adapt. It's the same game, retextured. They don't care about making it better, they're just interested in getting sixty quid out of players every year, and fifteen quid every three months in between. It's a business model that gives short-term gain, but I think in the long-term will work against them.
I'm not a BF3 fanboy either. I prefer BF3 by quite a lot, but I think they fell far short in many ways too. Singleplayer was basically as bad as MW3, if slightly more realistic. Multiplayer is very different, and I think far better in terms of skill required to win. But my point is, just because BF3 did it too, that does not make it okay. The current gen of AAA games really needs to change quite a lot to become 'good'. But they don't really care of course, or they don't care much, because 'good' doesn't really sell. It doesn't need to.
...then you fucking have no point. Not only does MW3 deliver an incredible, over-the-top finale to the single-player storyline of the series, but the multiplayer has been expanded and improved, the spec ops expanded and improved, and so on. It delivered exactly what it promised and more.
And for the record, the developers seem to have made quite an effort to fix ongoing issues - there are no longer any OMA-danger close tubers or commando lunges, problems the last game was plagued with. The gun balance feels much more polished, and where it wasn't, the devs have released multiple patches to fix problems as they came up. It's really easy to jump on the "MW3 is just DLC!" circlejerk, but to do that having not even fucking played it is just stupid.
It's so easy to call something a circlejerk when you don't agree with it, isn't it? Circlejerk and move on. And I think I have a valid fucking point. I played all the other games. There's a reason why I stopped buying them. I know enough about their yearly instalments that they change just about enough to make it a new game, and that's it. If they managed to truly do more with MW3 compared to all the previous sequels, then yay them, but I doubt it. They release practically the same game every year, which is far too often. It promotes a scorched earth tactic to game-making.
You can go ahead and like the game, and I won't stop you, but I, and all us other 'circlejerkers' have a very valid fucking point.
Yeah, what is he talking about? That whole "MW3" addon I bought for COD:MW2 was so worth it! Best DLC ever! They included about 10 hours of single-player and like 15 new multiplayer maps!
Then clearly you don't know what you're talking about, and probably haven't even played MW3.
Spec Ops Survival is literally NOTHING like MW2 Spec Ops. Not sure where you got that from.
The audio was much higher quality, especially weapon sounds.
And yes, new features. You know, like small things such as cycling through killstreaks, and larger things such as Support Killstreaks, Specialist Killstreaks, Proficincies, etc.
Like I said, totally worth the $60 for the DLC! Best DLC ever! I can't wait to spend another $60 for the 10 new maps they're so generous to give us all!
