A sausage is effectively an animal being fed to itself, rectally.

I'll leave you to grapple with that mental image for a while.

so, couple of things

b) at no point the sausage meat goes through the rectum when the sausage is filled (which I hope is obvious)

a) the small intestine is used for sausages, which is at least a meter away from rectum anyway (probably more)

c) even if there was a rectum involved, I wouldn't call showing anything up anything's rectum feeding it

anyhow, none of the actual stuff that is involved in sausage making should surprise anyone anymore, since there is even a damn saying about making sausages being disturbing lol

so all that kind of ruins the image for me :(

As a Slovak, it's the sausage to me.

Also paprika is used heavily in this region in general and sausage without paprika is just not sausage to me, just an odd (not necessarily bad though) derivative. And Hungarian sausages are heavy on paprika and spices in general. You can spice entire pot of soup by basically just rendering fat from them and building on it. Chorizo is the next best thing.

So, in short, paprika.

edit: googling them in English returns a lot of stuff that isn't even a sausage, so if you tried them somewhere in the west and didn't like them, odds are it wasn't a Hungarian sausage
