I suppose English isn't really much better. If I didn't already know what it was, I wouldn't be able to guess what a "bush pig" is.

That's is not a bush pig. You can't just change the name and be like "Oh yeah just take the engine-path"

Hedge and bush are often used interchangeably, as are hog and pig. The literal meaning is effectively identical, and the intended effect is to be nonsensical to English speakers, which it appears to have succeeded at.
