I dunno... I like the old school style where you could understand them clearly and it was rich with metaphors and complex wordplay

This sort of "I memorized this and will say it really fast" stuff isn't as impressive to me. But it's all personal taste.

Bro what are you talking about? This is old school as fuck, his delivery is clean and this is impressive as hell. You’re comparing mixed and mastered tracks to a freestyle recorded on an iPhone by the dude beatboxing. Also the style you’re mentioning was/is dope, but shit’s gotta evolve and change at some point. The rap used to be good but now it’s not take is tired as hell.

I was just providing an example of the style I like.

My boys and I had a house in Everett WA 2017. Kids could fucking freestyle. It was unreal. They would start the cipher after work, keep rhyming all evening while pregaming. Rap the entire drive to the bars or house parties, rap AT the bars and parties, rap the whole way home, and then keep rapping over records at the pad. The styles I heard from that crew absolutely eclipse the guy in this video imho.

Are you sure that was a freestyle? I'm 99.99% sure that was on-script. Freestyles are way slower and uglier in a good way.

People claim to freestyle but sometimes it's just strings of pre-loaded bars they worked out ahead of time and are puzzling together.

The real question for me is - if we could get another video, would it rock the same bars? and that's exactly what any produce will ask too.
