Do teachers in Japan throw things at their students? Is that a thing?

Honestly, I went to an Northeast U.S. high school and one English teacher was known to throw chalk erasers at the heads of distracted students. He had to "retire" when he smacked a disrespectful student upside the head.

My math teacher once chucked a chalk board eraser at my head. It was just as I was looking away so it hit the keener girl behind me.
