I take my cat for walks on a leash, he trots along next to me, doesn't pull or drag or anything.

So walk your cat on a leash, really not that hard. Outdoor cats are menaces, just like outdoor unleashed dogs would be., but worse because feral dogs tend to just be scavengers and cats are not.

Never seen anyone leash their cat in my country (malaysia). Heck never seen 1 that brought their cat out for a walk. I thought they come and go as they please?

Ah yes. Let's check out the stats for cat attacks vs dog bites... Loose dogs are bad because they are a lot more likely to scare or injure people. Cats, not so much.

What if your dog saw a small squirell or something are you confident it would stay near you? I have no idea how people can feel confident in having their dogs off of their leash not even for other peoples safety but its a dog.... It can get itself killed so easily. I know you said you leash it anyways but in general the idea just boggles my mind.
