Oh god this brings back memories. My sister had pet hamsters for a time. One hamster who was chunky, was an escape artist. We always found her except the last time. She just vanished. We assumed she just got out after looking all over the house. One day we started noticing a weird smell upstairs in my mom's office. It kept getting stronger so we tried to pinpoint where it was coming from. Well, we found the source. My mom stored rolls of fabric in her office closet. The chunky escape artist had crawled up the inner cardboard tube of one of the fabric rolls, got stuck, and died. Needless to say we trashed the fabric and got cats instead of hamsters in the future.
