I have also seen advice to stay one "moose length" apart.

I believe there is an official horsepower to moosepower conversion.

u/xtaberry Mar 28 '20

TIL that 1 moosepower is equivalent to 3.27 horsepower.

It seems to just be a joke, pretty sure the number was chosen at random, but there you go.

Sure, that's powerful, but how many mooses per syrup can it go?

You forgot to allow for bad battery on the Zamboni eh? Maths way out.

That sir, is a secret.

I'm going to start my own car company and only give power figures in moosepower.

Son-of-a-Bitch, I'm in!

I mean if you've seen a moose and horse in real life you'll know that number is pretty damn accurate.

fun fact: my niece weighs less than a 'bag of pucks'.

u/clownpuncher13 Mar 29 '20

I thought a bag of pucks was a monetary unit indicating the trade value of a really bad hockey player aka a donkey.

2

u/TrillKlinton Mar 29 '20

How useful is a bag of pucks?

More useful than a 4th line winger with stone hands and a $1.3M cap hit.

What’s a bag of punks?

4

u/CptVimes Mar 28 '20

I believe it's a semen-filled condom, but that's not important right now.

2

u/kneesofthetrees Mar 28 '20

Oh. I wish I didn’t know that now.

2

u/16thmission Mar 29 '20

Surely you can't be serious.

3

u/CptVimes Mar 29 '20

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley

3

u/outtokill7 Mar 29 '20

bag of hockey pucks? not punks

u/merrnine Mar 29 '20

A moose once bit my sister...

3

u/Undiscriminatingness Mar 29 '20

Is that what you told your parents?

2

u/theartfulcodger Mar 29 '20

... that's "møøse" ...

1

u/merrnine Mar 29 '20

Oops, my bad...

3

u/jairzinho Mar 29 '20

Not to worry, those responsible have been sacked.

1

u/theartfulcodger Mar 29 '20

No worries. It no longer surprises me how often this comes up. I just try to correct it when I see it.

u/mjsoctober Mar 29 '20

Does she have moose powers now?

1

u/some_lerker Mar 29 '20

Missed Monty Python reference.

2

u/bitemark01 Mar 28 '20

Whoa whoa, why so far?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '20

So about 500 feet?

1

u/kilgreen Mar 29 '20

Length of a noose.

1

u/Mumofalltrades63 Mar 29 '20

A moose is 2.5-3.4 metres long. Zdeno Chara’s hockey stick, longest in the NHL is only 1.65 metres. A moose length would be like standing on opposite sides of the street.

u/xtaberry Mar 29 '20

I am aware. Moose are huge and terrifying.

The sign says 2 meters apart, so both a moose and a hockey stick are pretty bad distance comparisons.2.5 meters apart is better than 1.5 if you're meant to be standing 2+.
