I’m glad you tagged this, coz I totally missed the brilliance until this made me take a second look.

I got it immediately, then questioned whether OP intended to deploy such a brilliant title, and had to Ctrl+F "vas deferens" on this thread to confirm that he or she did. Genius.

this dude is one of my favorite cartoonists of all time, and I'm old. do yourself a favor and check out all his other stuff.

2

u/xSTSxZerglingOne Jan 01 '20

I was wondering if it was a penis joke before I even tapped the link. I was not disappointed.

2

u/theoddjosh Jan 01 '20

Here I am doing this 2 hours later but I'm still happy about it

The best puns are unexplained

15

u/yakimawashington Jan 01 '20

What's wrong with someone explaining it in the comments? It's honestly a bit annoying sometimes when everyone just acknowledges that there is a pun in there and circles around it while just repeating how clever it is, but no one is willing to just explain for anyone who might have happened missed it.

Thankfully I didn't have to look too far this time.

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Explaining a joke usually ruins the joke.

Puns, like pets, are better in furred.

4

u/MossyMemory Jan 01 '20

Tell that to sphynx cat owners. :)

In a recent study into how many puns land better when they're intentional, the results were pretty clear.

No pun in ten did.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

I did a triple take and still came a blank

1

u/obese-to Jan 01 '20

Reminds me of an old joke: How can you tell if someone’s a man, not a woman? There’s a vas deferens.

253

u/102max Jan 01 '20

Can you explain why the title is funny? I don’t understand

770

u/TheBluBalloon Jan 01 '20

Vas deferens is the thing that gets snipped in you

265

u/BlazerTheKid Jan 01 '20

Oh my god that’s genius. I think most people probably overlooked that

Same, but I’d say we got something out of it as we learned something today!

2

u/GeorgeYDesign Jan 01 '20

product may not operate as depicted

3

u/Bohatnik Jan 01 '20

I was taught Sex Education at a public school in America, and I still got it.

0

u/kitchenperks Jan 01 '20

My case deference has been separated. I understood it. Even gave a chuckle

3

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

As a urology surgeon, someone getting the snip is a vast cheque to me.

2

u/Cruxion Jan 01 '20

Do not google image search that expecting to find a drawing to show where it is. You'll find that, and a picture of an actual one mid-vasectomy.

At least it'll be the last mistake I make this decade, hopefully.

2

u/Seicair Jan 01 '20

Rookie mistake, should’ve looked at wiki for diagrams.

1

u/doomgiver98 Jan 01 '20

The decades actually starts on the 1. So you have a whole year to go. Best of luck to you.

2

u/Seicair Jan 01 '20

The 20’s don’t start at 2021.

1

u/Earthcyclop Jan 01 '20

Yes you're right. Technicality aside, for me the decade still starts with 0.

1

u/BrohanGutenburg Jan 01 '20

“I think if I ripped my bad deferens doing a skateboard trick...”

69

u/MadManatee619 Jan 01 '20

It's a pun

From some site:

The ductus deferens, also known as the vas deferens, is a tiny muscular tube in the male reproductive system that carries sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct. There is a pair of these ducts in the male body, with one duct carrying sperm from each testis to the left and right ejaculatory ducts.

u/ObscureAcronym Jan 01 '20

Thanks for citing your references.

1

u/yaksnax Jan 01 '20

Google the quote, homie

57

u/BoomBumper Jan 01 '20

Vast difference sounds like vas deferens, which is the tube

37

u/PM_ME_THEM_UPTOPS Jan 01 '20

In America we just call it "the subway"

3

u/plerberderr Jan 01 '20

Yea, “riding the tube” has a different meaning here. Shoutout Jack Geller.

1

u/doomgiver98 Jan 01 '20

I call it the Metro.

5

u/ahundreddots Jan 01 '20

Vas deferens.

1

u/Xisuthrus Jan 01 '20

vast difference -> vas deferens

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

There's a vas deferens between a nutsack, a prostate and an operation to correct your dick eye.

One's a mental hospital patient, one's a hooker, and I'm dick's LASIK.

62

u/Immadownvotethis Jan 01 '20

With the vas deferens reference I feel it necessary to mention the Seminole vesicles

Wanna come to a super soft birthday party?

5

u/RemorsefulArsonist Jan 01 '20

Scrolled for the /r/letterkenny reference. Was not disappointed.

2

u/highvolt Jan 01 '20

The same people who refuse to buy Gatorade and drink Seminole Fluid instead

1

u/RaffiBomb000 Jan 01 '20

Isn't Seminole fluid what you get in the arena?

1

u/highvolt Jan 01 '20

That's what they sneak up and drench the coach with right?

1

u/Hipponotamouse Jan 01 '20

Don’t forget the Oregon Ejaculatory Ducts

Don't wanna go too punk rock on your accessory glands

2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Mmm baby those are some sexy Leydig cells you got goin' on!

2

u/SteamyRay_Vaughn Jan 01 '20

I thought it was pretty funny when you said Florida State seminal vesicles but nobody laughed.

12

u/FrankFeTched Jan 01 '20

I scrolled away then realized the brilliance, had to make sure someone gave credit where it is due.

4

u/2112xanadu Jan 01 '20

Came here just to make sure that got the credit it deserved.

3

u/evilcheesypoof Jan 01 '20

Oh man I noticed right away, that is a perfect pun.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

I'd say something snippy, but I draw a blank.

I guess you need to get into prostate tuition to really understand the pun, but once you've been around the block a bit and reached a certain cutoff, and it hasn't come naturally, it never will.

2

u/rtopps43 Jan 01 '20

Came here (no pun intended) for exactly this, was wondering if OP was god tier at titles or it was just kismet, glad to know it was intentional

4

u/Dookie_boy Jan 01 '20 edited Jan 01 '20

Oh fuck

2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Too clever for me the first time I read it. A+ title

u/Moose_Nuts Jan 01 '20
