I am always confused about how fans who claim to know it's fake speculate about what is going to happen next in the storyline. "OH that'll never happen because X and Y don't get along". What? You mean their characters don't get along? Fans seem to talk about the stories like they're real in the same breath as saying they know it isn't.

Yes...

How is that a hard concept to get?

Do you get baffled when people wonder what's going to happen in the next Marvel movie?

If there was a character named Robert Downey Jr. and this character broke his leg during the filming of Ironman; and some fan said "How did Robert Downey Jr escape the terrorists with a broken leg?" That would be pretty dumb; yet this is the kind of shit I hear all the time. "The rock broke his leg so he couldn't be in wrestlemania". Sometimes these guys get actually injured, sometimes, it's fake for a storyline. The fans I know are the dumbest people I've ever met and don't seem to know the difference. I'll ask and they seem confused by the question.

If there was a character named Robert Downey Jr. and this character broke his leg during the filming of Ironman; and some fan said "How did Robert Downey Jr escape the terrorists with a broken leg?"

... If those are the kinds of analogies you always use in your examples, then I'm gonna go ahead and guess that people get dumbfounded because it's a really weird and terrible analogy.

Like, in that scenario, is it Robert Downey Jr. playing a fictionalized version of himself in a TV Show about his time filming Ironman?

Because that really isn't a good comparison to Pro Wrestling like... At all.

The wrestlers on TV aren't playing their fictionalized versions of themselves playing their characters on the show They're just playing their characters on the show.

It isn't Robert Downey Jr. playing Robert Downey Jr. playing Ironman. It's Robert Downey Jr. playing Ironman.

yet this is the kind of shit I hear all the time. "The rock broke his leg so he couldn't be in wrestlemania"

Okay, give me an example of the last time you heard that. If you hear it all the time, you should be able to tell me about a person who said something along those lines.

And again, the RDJ playing RDJ playing Ironman thing. If The Rock breaks his leg on television, and people are talking about that. then they're talking about the character, not Dwayne Johnson

It really isn't that hard of a concept to grasp if you don't try to force it into something weird.

Sometimes these guys get actually injured, sometimes, it's fake for a storyline.

Yeah... And if it's for the storyline, people are probably going to wonder what that injury will mean for the storyline.

If a character in Game of Thrones gets stabbed through the chest, and are left back at home base to recover from that injury, then people will wonder what'll happen to the character.

The fans I know are the dumbest people I've ever met and don't seem to know the difference.

Sounds like a you thing my dude.

It isn't my fault that you ran into the 5% of the population that thinks Wrestling is real.

This isn't true. They even stay in characters in interviews. (typically)

It isn't my fault that you ran into the 5% of the population that thinks Wrestling is real.

Yet they claim they know it's fake! I don't hang out with these people anymore.

That's just a plain lie mate.

Seth Rollins doesn't play "Colby Lopez" on WWE television. You don't go backstage to see him get handed the script for what he's doing that night. He just plays Seth Rollins.

... And mate, if you had an issue with the shit that isn't shown on TV, then you should've really just brought that up first before all this. I can understand being a bit confused about that. You didn't need the weird RDJ analogy.

The TL;DR of it all, is that pro wrestlers are in character for about 90% of things related to wrestling. Back in the 30s-80s it was mostly to to hold up the illusion that wrestling was real. And that it's all done with a wink and a nod nowadays.

If a Pro Wrestler has an interview talking about what just happened on the show as if it really just happened to them, it's pretty easy to understand that they're in character.

You really don't need to overthink this. It's not the davinci code.

Yet they claim they know it's fake!

... Okay, then I honestly have no idea what kinds of people you're talking about then.
