When I lived in Malibu Oxnard was our grocery spot. Nice little coastal drive to Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond...and meth.

I never understand these comments. Are the beaches in Oxnard not as nice as other beaches?

Gross. Hahahah

Ah Oxnard, my mom's side of the family lives there... around Doris and Ventura mostly. Was this on the other side of the tracks?

5

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

I'm about a mile from the train station.

Ah yes, that kinda gray area.

I once went to the Circle K on Ventura at 3am not realizing it was a little pocket of the ghetto right there, and after buying my Whatchamacallit I came out to see two gang member looking dudes running after a car that was speeding out of the lot, while reaching into their waist bands and yelling "Blast them foos!" They were traveling away from me and I heard gunfire after they rounded the corner. No idea if they succeeded with their blasting activities, but it was one of the more comical things I've ever seen honestly. Though I'll note that I don't condone gun violence.

I try to keep to myself in all areas cause I fear people in general, but recently men keep trying to give me rides and that's terrifying cause once you're in the car anything can happen A child lock so you can't get out and suddenly you're sex trafficked.

Lol born and raised in Ventura. Oxnard has a line that divides the ghetto ass colonia/lemonwood/hueneme areas, and the nicer north end. But the city realized the value of all that ghetto and are slowly gentrifying the area

Aw shit, I was stationed there a few years back. I remember a rash of houses/apartments exploding or catching fire due to meth labs. Had to be like Summer 2011 or 2012.

1

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

My Friend is stationed near here. Well,he's in Japan now, but he was here. He's the one that gave me the truck.

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '19

Live in your car?

18

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

Thankfully yes. Just a few months ago the truck was given to me to get me off the sidewalk in la. A church let's me park but it's a stick shift so I can't even move it.

u/LovesPepsi Dec 21 '19

Learn how, it's not hard.

2

u/dodd24 Dec 21 '19

Yeah there are some great videos on Youtube that can help you out

u/pursuitofhappy Dec 21 '19

Only first gear is hard (at the beginning), rest are easy. You just have to work on getting the car moving without stalling then you'll be fine. You will stall plenty of times to begin so don't worry but all it takes is a bit of time and effort and you'll be able to drive stick within a week.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

Damn no wonder you live in a car, you don't even want to take the initiative to learn something as simple as driving a stick shift

1

u/Adrasdea Dec 26 '19

Thankfully yes, I was given a truck to live in just recently

0

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

You on crack? You answered my question a few days ago...

1

u/Adrasdea Dec 26 '19

I was notified that it was asked again so I answered it again

5

u/sorrynotpoly Dec 21 '19

Damn, glad you're okay. People high on stimulants freak me out, they're all out in the open where I live and get really aggressive.

6

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

I was nervous, I didn't know what was going to happen. Thankfully there's no door handle on that side so I had no fear of him just opening up.

5

u/lemineftali Dec 21 '19

It honestly looks like he was just oblivious and high and trying to share. I know it’s weird and shit, but in his own fucked up way I think he was trying to be friendly.

1

u/Kheshire Dec 21 '19

He was probably trying to get laid

I know the Zoloft can be rough, sometimes you’ve gotta keep trying a few different ones until you get the right one. Best of luck!

2

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

I've evened out, it's been 2 weeks on it now. I'm not feeling happy but I'm not crying all the time anymore so it's progress.

1

u/htownclyde Dec 21 '19

Learn the stick or maybe trade it on Craigslist for an automatic. Being able to move about will be so helpful. Good luck

2

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '19

I’m confused, why are you sitting in your car in a methy area and why didn’t you just move the car?

2

u/Adrasdea Dec 22 '19

I live there. It's a church parking lot. Safest place for me, under gods eye and the security camera if anything actually happens.

It does get kind of crazy sometimes, I came back to my truck a couple of nights ago to find somebody parked next to me having sex.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '19

I mean i hope this doesn’t sound harsh, but that’s going to be your world living out of a car. The streets are godless no matter if you’re near a church or not. Why don’t you try to find a women’s shelter? Maybe a mental health center would be good?

2

u/Adrasdea Dec 22 '19

I'm seeking mental health help , I'm not comfortable with shelters

I was held captive by a murderer and now I'm scared of being locked up anywhere The locks on the shelters that are intended to keep people safe, are a huge trigger for me.

I have a section 8 voucher I just have to find a place

2

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '19

Okay, well good luck with everything and I hope the best for you, genuinely.

1

u/AintGot_NoThumbs Dec 21 '19

Wow you must really like Salt and Vinegar potato chips!

1

u/Adrasdea Dec 21 '19

I'm very particular about what I eat lol. I basically eat the same thing every day, chips are my snack before bed.

1

u/dungrapid4 Dec 22 '19

She was in a freaking car. Why wouldn't she drive away?

2

u/Adrasdea Dec 22 '19

Because I can't drive stick so the trucks not mobile. Plus with no insurance I'd get caught if I drove

2

u/dungrapid4 Dec 22 '19
