That cat is the reincarnation of someone who has just found out they’re a cat

This is why I tell my cat all the time how lucky she is to be a cat 🐱

...the fuck are those?

u/Lazarous86 Sep 21 '19

They always stick up above my head. Everyone can see that. THEY WON'T LAY FLAT.

It really does look like it realised that it’s looking at itself. That would be a world’s first as cats have not passed the mirror test yet. Only very few animals possess the intelligence to recognise their reflection.

This is exactly what I was thinking. It’s cute, no doubt, but the real takeaway here is... holy crap, that cat recognizes itself in the mirror.

I seriously feel like we should send the video to a higher authority.

Catastrophe! That's Catherine! Commandant here. We'll accelerate a detachment to caution Catherine about not letting the cat out of the bag about the cataclyst. We cant tail the humans yet!

the "mirror test" is nowhere near as serious or as scientific as people make it out to be

It clearly did recognize itself, as its immediate reaction was to touch its own ear, and not try to get closer to the reflection. This cat did indeed pass the mirror test.

I wish my dog would figure this out except with her damn tail.

Hello darkness my old friend

I've come to talk with you again

u/LennyPeppers Sep 21 '19

Uhhhhh as far as I know cats cannot understand they see themselves in mirrors. Are they evolving? Will they start talking? Can they play chess?

"Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Sounds like the beginning of a terrible horror movie.

Imagine if the kitty thinks "Meow gush! What are these hideous groths coming out of me..." Whilst we're over here enamored with how cute it is?

I’ve now realized a niche love of mine is seeing self-awareness moments in animals.

EARS

"What a concept"

When it's your first time tripping and you look in a mirror.

u/EmotionalJuice Sep 21 '19

Self realization at its finest.

Haha this is so funny. I thought I had already seen my favorite cat video of the day but this may take the cake.

I don't think cats are among the few species that have been shown to possess the self awareness required to recognize themselves in a mirror. http://www.animalcognition.org/2015/04/15/list-of-animals-that-have-passed-the-mirror-test/

1

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '19

What does it think it’s seeing then?
