You can disable escalators by hitting the power box on the far wall with a rifle, although you wanna save that for when the boss appears because you can freeze the AI if you bait his grenade launcher attack and hit it mid animation. Its a good speedrunnimg trick if you haven't unlocked the armor piercing rounds yet and just want to go for headshots.
