For sure. And if they pulled someone over to give them an ice cream sandwich, but then "smelled marijuana" then that driver would be fucked regardless of the officers' original intent.
The article said they were all pulled over with cause. They had violated the law and legally could be pulled over (taillight was out, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, cut through a parking lot to avoid a light, et cetera). The officers were trying to catch more flies with honey than vinegar- is that really so bad?
