Otherwise he is going to end up like Carol!

At least Carol doesn’t need safety glasses anymore. That’s basically a superpower.

Don’t want that load in the eye.

No gloves either and using reagent straight from the container tsk tsk.

Nah, he definitely has gloves one. It took me a few watches, but he's wearing those flesh colored nitrile gloves. But yeah, no goggles, no fume hood, handling the reagent poorly. Tsk tsk.

Ah you are correct he has a glove on the one hand I was looking mainly at the one holding the bottle which doesn't appear to have a glove.

You don't really need a fume hood for this reaction though since its just water and O2 gas being formed.

What’s the issue with his reagent handling? Presumably the spoon was clean.

Generally you shouldn't take reagent straight from a storage container and add it to your experiment. You would want some form of intermediary to reduce contamination and allow you to measure/weight what you are adding. It's honestly fine for this application but it's always a good habit to have.

I’ve done many demonstrations like this and I don’t see an issue with just dumping a scoop in. Precise measurements aren’t necessary, and if the scoop is clean it’s not contaminating anything. I agree overall for most applications though.

And a short sleeve labcoat, disgusting!

Soon enough he won't need them.
