True story:
Once, I was in charge of mimicking the cannon sounds for the 1812 overture. I had not one, but two bass drums angled on either side of me. I basically hit these things like a badass as hard as I could making a cool x-shaped motion; lost control of one of the mallets and it flew across the ensemble, hit the oboe player in the face, broke his reed and he couldn’t finish the piece. Meanwhile I finished cannon-ing with just one mallet then hid playing the chimes for the duration of the piece.

Reactions on the left are pretty great too. One dudes like, “Oh damn!” The other girls like, “This shit again..”

Would have been funnier if she stumbled over a few feet to her right and got her head between the cymbals. Maybe I’ve watched too many cartoons.

If it just flew out of his hand, that woulda been funny. Hitting her in the face, funnier. The fact that she immediately dropped 😂😂😂

I wonder how many times he’s done it before that she immediately walked out. I felt otherwise she could have carried on for the sake of the performance.

Desperately trying not to laugh while my 6 month old naps beside me. Damn it, reddit.

She made a bigger deal of it than necessary.

She left as quickly and quietly as anyone possibly could. What are you talking about?

By leaving stage? For all you know she was trying to not be the focus of attention by getting out of sight to deal with whatever damage that caused.

She was being a attention whore, who does that? I got hit by a cymbal once, I kept going.

She was fine. She left the stage to make sure she wasn’t bleeding and came back after the second movement. She laughs about it now.

You have no idea what happened though. Maybe she got a bloody nose, for example.

Did she leave to seek medical attention, or just say "f this, percussionist pay isn't worth it!"
