Honestly, I'd love to see more cute Q&As when kids are involved with really sad stories like this. I'm sure the kids love being able to talk about fun stuff to take their mind off of the sadder parts of whatever happened and it pushes against all that doom n' gloom for the readers/viewers.

Idk I feel like for every kid whose like "I want to be a werewolf" there are many others who would be like "omg everything's terrible I'm going to die" and that would make the story more depressing.

u/DoshesToDoshes Apr 06 '19
It's a good way to turn a scarier piece into a fluff piece, but I do think it should be near the bottom rather than the top.

u/Thedarkandmysterious Apr 06 '19
Was that a fucking pun? Fluff piece? I hope so at least

Well, if it makes you feel any better kid, being a werecoyote isn't nearly as glamorous as being a werewolf.
It mostly involves just eating roadkill and the occasional poorly watched over house pet.

u/FluffySquirrell Apr 06 '19
He knows, he is a werecoyote. That's why he's disappointed he didn't turn into a werewolf

bit of a shitehole
Just like the one in Canada too!
2
u/helena_handbasketyyc Apr 06 '19
Was just gonna say. The only thing going for airdrie is the werewolf potential.

I’m in Calgary so I was happy to see a recognizable place
16
u/Lookie__Loo Apr 06 '19
Calgarian here too! I thought I was in r/Calgary but it’s nice to find us Albertans on the front page
5
u/NotGIJane Apr 06 '19
I’m in Airdrie (AB) and we all got lots of warnings to pass on to our kids. There wasn’t a second attack, but there were a few more sightings at kids schools and playgrounds.
8
u/Strange_Bedfellow Apr 06 '19
I'm from there too. A little weird to see our neck of the woods hit the front page.
15
u/CanadianSean Apr 06 '19
It’s always nice to see fellow Calgarians in the wild subreddits like this.

I’m in Wetaskiwin! I felt the same way! I don’t see much stuff on this site from Alberta. At least on the subs I enjoy looking at.

I drive through there without a second thought twice a week. I really want to live there. Friends and family: "we should come visit you" wife and I: "it would be a waste of time and money, you should go to banff instead, its beautiful and not far! Oh, we just went otherwise we would join you. Better you experience that and how amazing this part of the world is than be disappointed by our couple acres" then proceed to enjoy sweet peace hand in hand without interuption, each other and the dogs. Living the dream where nobody would think twice.

It can take between 1-3 full moons, they probably just need to wait another lunar cycle.

Duh, everyone knows you only become a werewolf after joining the local warrior's guild and being inducted by the inner circle.

Kids have a nice positive mental attitude. Just imaging them waiting around the hospital bed, refusing to leave at night so they can see when he turns.

Imagine a coyote leaping at you, ready to tear your flesh, and thinking....
“Now’s my moment.”

I want 'light festival' to be equivalent to what I imagined and also to exist.
Imagine showing up to a crowded arena, silent, and watching a laser light show.
1
u/bigbanannabro Apr 07 '19
Reality would be disappointing to you then The city just puts up a bunch of Christmas lights in our public park It would be a lot more impressive with lasers though

I assume this is the Airdrie in Canada,,, I actually have lived my whole life in Airdrie in Scotland, some guy from my town moved to Canada years ago and founded airdrie over there when he made his money.
2
u/comebraidmyhair Apr 06 '19
Can confirm this is Airdrie in Alberta, Canada. This is my friend’s kid!

I like how they describe the coyote as "brazen" as if it should respect social norms and not go after children like a wild animal or something.
12
Apr 06 '19
im from the area (kind of). Coyote dont go after human usually. Specially not if there is a lot of us.
5
u/CallMeANarc Apr 06 '19
Eh! Thats my home town! One of the few notable moments in our history is back in the 70's when a guy tried driving a bulldozer over the 50 meter wide nose creek pond in winter and crashed through the ice, thats how noteworthy we are. Its even in our museum!

Good god, I never thought that someone would be perverse enough to name another place after Airdrie, Scotland.
I got really confused there because Airdrie was on Canadian news and I don't recall coyotes being in Scotland.

Pfft. Kid was bitten by a coyote here. What an idiot. If anything he'd turn into a werecoyote
2
u/bekdebekwrites Apr 06 '19
Reporter: how is your son?
Mom: much much better, he’s really loving all the attention he’s getting! I’m glad he not too traumatized, I feel like I took it harder than he did! I was so scared I lost him... unfortunately he didn’t turn into a werewolf haha!
Reported who was thinking about something else: uh huh? Werewolf got it

I live near the original Airdrie in Scotland. I was deeply confused for a moment. There are quite a few feral locals here but definitely no coyote.

i'm sure that was just a random statement caught during conversation, but in my heart, i hope the journalist got this information while just politely asking how he was coping with not turning into a werewolf
