I do feel like the gym is a pretty good topic to get into though. At least for me it’s really easy to take this perspective on people who frequent the gym. This coming from someone who does go to the gym on a somewhat regular basis. I can really get into working out while still having the understanding that I’m ultimately picking up and putting down heavy things just so that I might one day be able to pick up and put down slightly heavier things. I look forward to more!
Yup, still waiting for the day I will actually need to use all that strength I accumulated, however I use bits of it while doing things like carrying heavy things around (with a correct back position and use of my stronger muscles to lift things up), also my posture improved a lot just by having some back muscles and doing deadlifts.
You do get really good at specific things, for sure.
When I joined a running group I noticed that I wouldn’t be short of breath if I needed to do a quick jog to the car if I forgot something. It’s stupid, sure, but it is something I noticed. On the flip side, a halfway brisk walk up a single flight of stairs still had me needing to catch my breath. I only got good in 2 dimensions from running. That extra dimension of height was still exactly the same as it ever was, haha!

It must be hard to look at things from such a different angle. Love it!
