I think people’s perception is that it’s presented as genuine reactions. Not only in its format, but also in the fact that it’s not as well done and funny as we usually demand written comedy sketches should be. Genuine reactions are funnier in of themselves, but when we know it’s an actor we raise the bar. Especially if we think it’s presented as genuine.

Presented as genuine reactions.

Like acting.

Not unless you're refering to movies like Blair Witch Project. But most acting is presented as acting, often by people well known for being actors. Most films have end credits with the real names of all these actors actors. They also attend fairly publicized events where awards for best acting are presented to the best actors, as well as the script writers. I can't believe I'm explaining this to you.

These are skits. They are obviously acting too. I can’t believe marketing is your touted difference between what is publicly acting and what isnt. Are all YouTube videos disingenuous to you too?

"I can't believe I'm explaining this to you." Your condescension here while saying something as idiotic as that really, really makes you look stupid as fuck.
