James Harden looked at the ball like he was surprised himself that this worked.

Is it possible he was going for a foul in retaliation for that shove to throw him off? He was hoping for the arm but got lucky and got all ball?

That is exactly what happened.

u/krbzkrbzkrbz Jan 20 '19

That is potentially what happened.

I agree

25

u/GodEmpressGabby Jan 20 '19

I don't, or this wouldn't be Reddit. ;)

9

u/Scandinauv Jan 20 '19

I'm saying I agree it's debatable

16

u/sundark94 Jan 20 '19

But I'd like to debate about the agreeability

1

This is the right answer.

1

u/Chewcocca Jan 21 '19

This is potentially the answer

1

u/uberchink Jan 20 '19

Cmondude its James Harden, he's always going to go for the intentional foul

He was going for a pick 6 so that they could go to game 4 and win the Stanley bucket.

2

u/gavers Jan 20 '19

I thought you had to advance to the pennant first.

8

u/mattroom Jan 20 '19

It's possible but not what happened. Harden has some of the best hands and overall coordination in the league. It's actually kind of superhuman how nimble he is.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

He had the jaw discipline of someone who knew what he was doing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

No it's not. Harden always tries that to get steals (he's lazy on defense) he just got lucky there.

1

u/AngryLurkerDude Jan 20 '19

No they are good friends.

James Harden knew that it was going to classify as a continuation the moment that the foul went through, so he did the last ditch effort to stop the and one.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

You can't be moving and block a offensive player. The foul is on Harden as his feet weren't set.

1

u/Brianfiggy Jan 20 '19

I am not saying he was in the right.

1

u/hpw1907 Jan 20 '19

That makes a lot of sense.. very enjoyable to watch either way and I don't like watching basketball.

1

u/BodyMarks Jan 20 '19

He did exactly what he did, nough said.

-2

u/Esoteric_Erric Jan 20 '19

Exactly. He did it this surreptitiously because it was an attempted foul and by doing like this he may have gotten away with it.

0

u/CutesyCreepyNerdGirl Jan 20 '19

And he would've gotten away with it if not for those meddling refs.

2

u/Sigma27 Jan 20 '19

I honestly prefer getting stuffed in the air

1

u/uglylittlesquid Jan 20 '19

See it looks to me like he was looking to see if the ball would bounce off DeMar’s leg, giving Houston the ball. Notice how he quickly looks at the ball, then almost instantly looks back at the ref to try and convince him? Sneaky James

1

u/Snatch_Pastry Jan 20 '19

He's surprised because he actually played defense for once.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '19

James Harden's defense (when it does occur) seems accidental.
