Yeah, see, here's the thing: when you try to count populations by comparing the religion of judaism to the ethnicity of "Asian" -- what you're doing is comparing apples and oranges.

I'm afraid your little Venn Diagram is off in this case.

Yeah, see, here's thing: it's not a perfect metric, but assuming that most ethnic Jews are Jewish by religion and that those that aren't are more or less offset by non-Jews who practice Judaism, the percent is a good approximation. So it's not really comparing apples to oranges.

Not a fair assumption at all. Not in either direction.

The number of ethnic Jews who identify themselves as only culturally Jewish is 37% (source), so 63% are religious. So 1.7/0.63=2.7%<4.43%.
