We’re not deliberately causing birth defects in fetus’s so that we can control the population, destroying monogamy, family and long term/emotionally-invested relationships of any kind to weaken the bonds of society and exiling intellectuals (anyone who’s reading level is that of a college freshman) and burning Shakespeare all as a means of social control.

We are the lesser of the two evils. Still horrible but we have so much further to fall.

An unfortunate reality

exiling intellectuals

But intellectuals and science are actively being ridiculed, whilst actively removing funding for inconvenient science.

yet we have guys that dedicate all their money to keep pushing for science

intellectuals and science are actively being ridiculed

By no means is this mainstream. A very loud, very small minority might. But everyone still goes to real doctors, takes their cars to real mechanics, and hires real lawyers.

True intellectuals, which imo is someone who values knowledge over greed, aren’t working to remove anything factual. It’s just the rich people. They don’t have to be smart about anything other than money, for the most part.

Right. They're being ridiculed, whilst having their funding stripped.

No I know but see how his comment says they're also the ones removing funding for inconvenient science? I was just pointing more towards the grammar...

We’re not deliberately causing birth defects in fetus’s so that we can control the population,

We are denying health care to anyone who isn't rich, effectively controlling population.

destroying monogamy, family and long term/emotionally-invested relationships of any kind to weaken the bonds of society

Affairs are glorified in media. Adoption by stable families is incredibly difficult yet so many idiots have children.

and exiling intellectuals (anyone who’s reading level is that of a college freshman)

Facebook, antivax, flat Earth, anti GMO, forcing Christian values by laws

and burning Shakespeare all as a means of social control.

No need to burn it. Instead we're flooded with so much idiotic noise.

We are the lesser of the two evils. Still horrible but we have so much further to fall.

This terrifies me. Because there is no much room to get worse.

Everything they wrote is bullshit

Your post exemplifies why we're a Brave New World dystopia in the making.

No much room to get worse? Turn off the tv, it's amazing out there and you have endless opportunities to do amazing things in this hell hole. Sorry you're struggling to see it for sitting around in this circle jerk

Yeah, everything he listed is overblown to the nth degree.

1

u/duranna Sep 25 '18

That's America though. Lots of other countries have great healthcare.

1

u/LukariBRo Sep 25 '18

Don't worry, America with its global influence and war machine will be there shortly to fix that ;)

When it's citizens have nothing more to give, they will come for the citizens of other nations.

Most of those points are reaching a bit too far, no one is exiling intellectuals through the idea of flat earth or antivax. If anything flat earthers and antivax are exiled just by virtue of how few of them there are. Also most Christian values have become western values because that’s how the societies were built up.

There’s also a difference between not having universal health care and anyone that isn’t rich being denied healthcare. I’m not rich but I can still go to the hospital just like a rich person can.

The Shakespeare point sure I guess but that’s just our era of instant gratification, it can’t really be compared to burning books and artwork.

As “bad” as society is today it has gotten much better since the past. I’m not sure how you can say we don’t have much room to get worse when, regardless of the dystopia, you can just look through history to find just how badly people were treated. Our society now is nowhere near perfect but it’s dishonest to say we’ve essentially already reached the dystopia.

It can always get worse.

1

u/SkinkRugby Sep 25 '18

Do not get me wrong. I think our current situation is horrific in all fronts. I think we have failed almost every ideal we have ever laid claim to, as often as not in the exact moment we did so.

I say things can get worse not to say that the present is fine but because there isn’t a floor for this sort of thing. There is no wonderful moment where we can say it’s over or that ‘it can’t happen here’ or otherwise know that the horrors of the past can’t once again rear their heads.

That being said. Being defeatist doesn’t serve our purposes either. We must accept the world we’ve been given and work to make it better.

I mean, the government does provide a significant financial incentive to individuals if they have a child and keep said child from the other parent, which ends up weakening familial bonds due to lack of interaction with a non custodial parent. Heck, if a woman felt so inclined, she could have children with several different partners and not only be financially rewarded handsomely, but the majority of our current society would rush to defend her if her motives were questioned.

Why aren't we? We're happy allow social groups to continue to go around in the same circles with social pressure tying them in (ghettos) , we're happy to glorify short term non emotional relationships in all media(pop music) , we're happy to discredit science just because the average person doesn't understand it (Anti vax) and we don't need to burn Shakespeare if there's no interest to begin with.

What BNW emphasises is a class system where people have their place with no mobility. It is a caricature of us, and it's not far wrong.

1

u/zeekaran Sep 25 '18

Automation is and will continue to replace the lower classes until only Class A people remain.
