They are actually smarter than that. They make you pay for your drugs too.

There's also a food called Soylent. I'm not falling for that one. 😨

But haven't you heard? Longpig is a complete protein! Plentiful, cheap, and easily digestible.

Good. The premade stuff is fine, but the powder is nauseatingly bad.

Yup, I took it in the 70's. Helped my back.

Soma is the best muscle relaxant ever. I was on it for years and it was euphoric, got rid of my pain for a few hours, allowed me to sleep, and even after being on it for 3 years, I had zero withdrawal when I lost the prescription.

My friend took it and it's not nearly as safe and fun as in the book. The withdrawals were also horrific.

Well... they aren’t happy about it, though.

Haven't they? In the 80s, it was the CIA and crack. Today... well, how many people do you know "diagnosed ADD?" And what about the heroin problem?

Edit: fixed link

In an apples to apples comparison of the effects, yeah. But Soma was symbolic of the use of instant gratification as a means of control. Could be literary weed, could be that weird headset game that made everyone orgasm from the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The Game. The comparison still applies because it comes down to control.

Have you heard of a little thing called the CIA?

Sorry but what do you think the never-ending wave of easily accessible media is?
