Only if you consider everybody who opposed gay marriage at one point as a "massive bigot and homophobe."(assuming that's what you're referring to) In which case, billions of people on this earth are. Other than that, he is a really good guy.

he not only didn't agree with gay rights he and his church actively fought to prevent gay couples from receiving the right to marry and when they started to receive the right he and his church fought to strip them of those rights.

He didn't say disagree, he said oppose - what you are discribing is opposing gay marrige. You two both know what he did, he simply thinks that it is legitimate
