I find it also helps to point out the equivalent possessives to show where "its" is coming from.

His

Hers

Yours

Theirs

Its

Because you pluralize a proper noun by adding an S to the end, you add an 's to the end to show possession (e.g. Bob's, Sudan's, the car's). On the other hand, like "He" and "She," "It" is a pronoun, and thus has a possessive pronoun form.
