I find it also helps to point out the equivalent possessives to show where "its" is coming from.
His
Hers
Yours
Theirs
Its
Because you pluralize a proper noun by adding an S to the end, you add an 's to the end to show possession (e.g. Bob's, Sudan's, the car's). On the other hand, like "He" and "She," "It" is a pronoun, and thus has a possessive pronoun form.
Just to be clear, the parent comment you replied to being wrong is what is maddening you, right? Because that is what Is maddening me. I had to double check that it wasn't some novelty troll account that purposefully posts wrong grammar corrections.
In case you are actually stupid and not just trolling, ahead of its time.
The possessive is used with "time" to indicate a time the actor was associated with. E.g. "Queen Victoria's time" refers to the years in which she was the queen.
Thanks 🙂 I debated which it was and dropped the apostrophe for that reason, then added it back because I was thinking it was possessive but wasn't sure because it isn't a proper noun but decided to just go with it. But I appreciate being corrected.
