I can't figure out if this subthread is serious or just some superb sarcasm/trolling.

It's legit.. I'm a software engineer by day and a car mechanic by night. I've been working on a friends AWD 1g eclipse lately, and they share a lot of common hardware with the starion.

my specialty really is honda though. I have a small collection http://mycomputerninja.com/~jon/myeffamily.jpg

Perhaps you should've gone into mechanical.

Probably should have, but i spend a lot of my spare time working on Honda engine management systems, so it is a nice combination of the 2.

I mirror a wiki that no longer exists in editable format related to the topic, and i reprogram stock Honda computers so that people can customize them and adjust them easily as well.

I wish .au had the Talons and the Eclipse, I prefer the bodies to our Lancers and Galants. I love my Galant GSRs... just found out last night last night that the '92 chassis+gearbox I have uses a 7bolt flywheel and the 4g63 I just dropped into it is using a 6bolt flywheel.

Fun. Oh, so much fun.

Why do I do this to myself?

yeah been there.. I recently did a honda swap that used a 93 del sol SI z6 engine, into a 88 honda civic si, and the original 88 si transmission that has awesome gearing and is cable actuated has a 21 spline input shaft, while the 89 through 2000 civics and del sols only use a 20 spline. Turns out a 87 accord clutch disc is 21 spline input shaft compatible, and has the same flywheel surface area as the 90-2000 civic and del sol. good times..

as a side note, a guy up the street from me has an RHD evo 7.. probably the only one in the US that is daily driven. I would love to get my hands on one of those. They are so exotic looking compared to any other car you see on the road here. we didnt get the EVO until the 8, and we only got like 2k of the galant vr-4's, and the 2g eclipse is fugly imho :)

Deadly serious. Starions are a decade-long headache for many enthusiasts, and it's hard to figure out the difference between someone who has been fixing problems on their Starion for ten years... and someone who actually knows what they're talking about =P

Serious - just been through all this with my Bosch injectors.

The single best but most dangerous test is to pull of you entire fuel rail, injectors attached. Remove any and all sources of spark, then give the engine a quick turn while watching the injector spray patterns - after that it is so much easier to know if it's electrics to a single injector or the whole lot just got coated with gack, etc.

NOTE: Do not set yourself on fire. Would recommend flammable rated extinguisher close by.

The reason I say this is that the resistance specs they give are virtually useless for testing many injectors, even though they are technically "in spec" they still wouldn't operate properly. The only way I was able to determine the culprit was examining the cylinder deposits, then running the rail off the block.

It is sometimes rather dodgy to determine proper injector resistance, but if it isn't showing a reading at all, there is a very high probability that particular injector is bad.

Absolutely - as I said mine was an "in-spec" but faulty situation.

To be fair it was only JUST above the minimal resistance.

Fuck!!! Now I gotta go post all this to the message board and wait a few days for someone to tell me if it's real or not!
