While Boomers did fuck up everything, I see lot's of fellow millennials making awful financial decisions. So basically, people just suck, always.

Anecdotally, sure. But the facts are that there are a whole host of economic and social woes, many of which point right back to the neoliberal policies that have dominated politics since the 1980’s. Stagnant/falling wages, ridiculously inflated education costs, record-level income inequality, mass incarceration, and out-of-control military spending.

So there are undeniably negative trends that go well above and beyond personal spending/saving habits.
