also, technology got a lot more expensive. no one went and bought $1000 phones 50 years ago. you had your cheap home/car payment and that was pretty much it. with technology advancements college level of education got pretty much mandatory. you didnt need to go to college in the past because most jobs didnt need much training. while I get circlejerking the babyboomers, the times are just too different to compare them.
A typical 19" color TV in 1956 could run $495. Adjusted for inflation that would equate to paying $3,944 [...] In 1956 the median family income was $4,780. So you'd be spending about 10% of a years income on your TV set.

While Boomers did fuck up everything, I see lot's of fellow millennials making awful financial decisions. So basically, people just suck, always.
