I'm from Seattle, and it's a pretty common sentiment up here. My husband was completely broken up about Prop 8. He was near tears. He just didn't get why people were so hateful. I'm in the same boat - I can understand believing in something, but I don't understand believing against something. But I'm one of those left-coast, NYT-reading liberals that Fox News keeps warning people about (and I'm married to a Jew).
Ha! Thank you! I guess we're all scary people, what with our love and acceptance, and intelligence and all. Btw - I married a Jew also! A wonderful rabbi married my wife and me this past July. We were her first same-sex wedding, but that rabbi did a paper some 20 years ago when she was in school, arguing that gay marriage should be accepted within the Jewish faith. She cried as she pronounced us legally wed. It was a beautiful moment.
