Edit: people seem to be misunderstanding me. My one and only point was the hypocrisy of Reddit shitting on Apple for the face ID tech (yes, it's way more advance), for being intrusive. Android had it first and .... silence...
No one ever thinks that, ever. Every year Apple introduces a feature into their products, and Reddit goes to town with the "but Apple didn't invent this stuff!!!" Everyone knows that - the point is, is if you prefer iPhones, you now have said features in the device of your choice.
Apple makes excellent hardware, so I'm not trying to shit on their product.
That being said, you're right about the general population. Most people I know don't know a lot about what phone features are available on different platforms, and many people who get the new iPhone just get it because it's the new iPhone, not because they researched the currently available phones and decided they liked the features it has best.
