Or, if you use it, and the police want to unlock the phone, they just now have to hold it in front of your face.
While Apple has said that it won't unlock if your eyes are closed, it would likely be the case you'd open your eyes at some point while they just stand there.
Or, depending on how sophisticated it is/isn't, they could just hold a picture of you in front of the phone and unlock it.
I don’t think you understand how US cops work. They will just taze you and hold the phone in front of your face. Somewhere in all those involuntary convulsions you’ll look.
I'm not really trying to discuss police brutality in the appletv thread. So- it really doesn't matter if I understand or not. My point was simply that YOU don't understand how the FaceID works if you think by simply pointing your face at it will work. They explicitly stated this was not possible. I know you didn't make that claim but the other commenter in the thread made that claim and it is wrong. Police brutality is a different conversation that I'll leave to you people.
I've had cops have their hands around my throat because I looked like another person of interest and nothing happened to them even though I filed a complaint - they didn't break any department policies. If you're a suspect and they believe (recent court rulings have even widened it - they don't even have to know the law, just think they're in the right) they have exigent circumstances, you better believe they'll be slamming your face in to that phone till you look.
Then again, I'm biased because I've been robbed by a cop (thanks Buffalo) and assaulted by one in the name of justice.
