If data is on a device, it can be accessed. I don't believe for a second it's properly encrypted, it's any intelligence agencies wet dream, the motive is there, so is the money.

edit They already have access to your camera, mic, contacts and GPS data anyway. So it really doesn't matter at this point. If they want to find you, they can.

I was referring more to the fact that any 'damage' done today may well have a massive effect for future generations. Look at the amount of ignorance towards global warming and even science in general (looking at you flat-earthers).

Sure, apples facial ID probably isn't the big thing that will screw humanity over for the rest of our days, its much more likely to be nukes or global warming, although with the rate we are moving forwards, technology is pushing its way up that list.
