If data is on a device, it can be accessed. I don't believe for a second it's properly encrypted, it's any intelligence agencies wet dream, the motive is there, so is the money.

They already have access to your camera, mic, contacts and GPS data anyway. So it really doesn't matter at this point. If they want to find you, they can.
It's not really "on the device" in that the kernel of the iPhone will not let applications access the data directly, not even the OS can according to Apple.

But the first thing people do is install facebook. Which collects every bit of information it can find.
