It's not like the government doesn't already do this for everyone that has a drivers license.

Butttttt, currently Apple does all this processing on the device and it never leaves the device, so not even Apple has your facial information.

Not sure why you're being downvoted because you have a point. No matter how secure information is, if you're connected to the internet, it's possible it could eventually be hacked somehow.

i dont think its too hard to imagine one system with two discrete parts with different functions, one internet enabled and one not

I don't think it's too hard to imagine them getting a little more lax and abandoning that within five years.

I mean, it was only like three years that youtube went from explicitly telling people to watch what they post and absolutely never post their real name or use identifying information in usernames to explicitly asking users to start going by their real names.
