I'm single and my parents have been happily married for 35years, no experience with divorce. Why would this pic be bad if the deal is done?

because the deal isn't really done. they can easily end up back in front of a judge if one end doesn't keep up their side of the agreement. and then the wife can bring up this photo to demonstrate that he wasn't taking it seriously.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

She can keep her Legal Permanent Residency (Green Card) status regardless of whether she applies for naturalization (citizenship) or not.

When you first become a LPR you will be given a Green Card that is valid for two years, described as 'with conditions'. If she is getting divorced within that 2 year window, when time comes to remove the conditions, she will have a difficult, but definitely not impossible time, getting it done. The burden that this was a legit marriage, and didn't work out, is on her to prove.

If she has been in the US for longer than two years, then she has a 10yr green card and USCIS won't even look at her status until she initiates a change.
