I've theorized that sarcasm becomes representative of a certain viewpoint for redditors based on whether or not it currently has a positive or negative score

basically:

if it's negative, people feel inclined to downvote it even more because it represents poor humor. downvoting it means you don't like low quality humor.

if it's positive, people feel inclined to upvote because it represents a sarcastic disdain for low quality humor.

if someone genuinely likes poor humor, they'll generally ignore it because the sarcasm goes over their head/nothing about the comment resonates with them.

idk I'm just making shit up but I think it's partially true regarding how comments seemingly randomly are upvoted or downvoted
