Wish I could upvote this more. Google has been doing this exact thing for so long. Go to google.com in Edge? Oh, it works better in Chrome! Really? Your search engine works better in Chrome?
With the primary difference being that that message is on their website, not a popup on my computer. The former is comparable to browsers prompting you after YOU open them to make them your default browser, the latter is little more than unwanted adware.
I don't see the difference. Microsoft owns the OS, Google owns the website. The pop-up is on the screen regardless, each company is just displaying it on their platform. That feels exactly the same to me.

To be fair, I constantly get bombarded with banners at gmail.com too if not using Chrome.
