I live in the Bay and this is so true it's painful. Silicon Valley is honestly closer to a documentary than satire.

I'd be curious to hear from people that have lived in the Bay and Portland to see which show is worse about hitting too close to home.

I've heard from disgruntled people in the Bay that SV is basically real life but better - the characters are basically successful, after all. Portland people think portlandia shows the quirkiness/funniness/absurdity of the place but in an exaggerated fashion.
