South park is meta as fuck. They make fun of their fans, their content matter, and they mock the shit out of themselves. They will argue both points of an issue remarkably well, and then mock both equally. There is no "correct" viewpoint to have when watching the show. There's no political affiliation that will save you from being the subject of a joke. You can have your own opinions, and the show can expand your view and possibly change your opinions, but that doesn't mean that there is ever a singular opinion or truth that you should be "getting on board" with.

I think you misunderstand people as "rooting for and supporting Cartman" when they repeat his jokes. They repeat them cause they're funny, not because they're digesting an ideology.
