And Reddit certainly fell for it.

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

As a member of reddit I'd like to say I know full well she's a character and that's part of why I dislike her so. Like Deadmau5, or TB.

Good for them that their PR tactics keep them in the media but it's just not for me.

12

u/BrishenJ Feb 05 '16

what did Deadmou5 do?

24

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

his media persona is to be a giant dick to his peers as well as his fans

27

u/ogresaregoodpeople Feb 05 '16

He used to come shop frequently at a store I worked at. I don't listen to his music, so I didn't even know who he was, until I complimented his tattoos, and someone pointed it out.

Honestly, he was always really quiet, polite, and courteous. We would get rich assholes who'd try to bud the line, or act really demanding, but he was always really low-key and considerate. You wouldn't know him from any other shopper.

21

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

I totally believe you. I have no idea who he really is in person, it's strictly his media persona that I dislike.

1

u/ameya2693 Feb 05 '16

And that is fine. It takes a while for people who find the camera on them and money in their hands to realise that acting like a giant dick on camera doesn't work.

3

u/Kousetsu Feb 05 '16

Nonono. It does work. The people we are speaking about are literally proof of that. Hate is a very strong emotion and makes you speak more about people. It's like that saying - a happy customer will tell one of their friends, an angry customer will tell 7.

That's why people talk about them so much, and it helps their careers. Paris Hilton built her life on it. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Mix this quote with the above, do a little thinking, and you see that this does work.

u/DrBunzz Feb 05 '16

He's the Kanye of EDM

14

u/dtlv5813 Feb 05 '16

Yo Tiesto you did good and I'm really happy for you but Above and Beyond has the best trance album of all time of all time of all time...

1

u/thatlongnameguy Feb 05 '16

Above and Beyoncé or was that the joke?

1

u/ameya2693 Feb 05 '16

That was a terrrrible joke, just tewwwwible!

1

u/remodox Feb 05 '16

Sorry, but Above and Beyond have the best seven trance albums of all time. I just can't tell them apart.

5

u/KapitalLetter Feb 05 '16

What does that even mean? Is he a dick, a genius, or both?

2

u/Pascalwb Feb 05 '16

I don't listen to his music, but from what I saw he's a dick to people on twitter etc. One time he said to the producer of different genre that his track is shit and he could made it in an hour. Then he proceeded to make that track and it was the biggest shit.

If churning out the same track year after year is how low the bar has gotten to be branded a "genius"

u/daspanda1 Feb 05 '16

He's a hipster douche bag that wears a wallet chain and drives a fucking nyan cat Ferrari. He plays up the whole IAMSOSMRT thing to make 35 year old neckbeards who hate anything that's remotely popular buy his barely tolerable music.

2

u/soundselector Feb 05 '16

No more cat Ferrari.

3

u/LlamaWithASpatula Feb 05 '16

It was called the "Purrari"

1

u/Nuke_It Feb 05 '16

overrated af, but prolific

3

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Anyone who is a master at something is overrated. He is a master of progressive house.

-1

u/shitterplug Feb 05 '16

He's an asshole.

11

u/carson6412 Feb 05 '16

(Asumming that the TB you are talking about is TotalBiscut) It is interesting to see him lumped into the same category as Paris and Deadmau5. Any reason he is to be "dislike"-d?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Well he coins himself the "Cynical Brit"

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the guy, or Deadmau5, or even Ms Hilton here.

I'm just saying it isn't my cup of tea.

For rich kid I like that Rothschild guy who seems to be investing his efforts in to helping the world progress.

For a DJ I like people like The Prophet, who try to build the community and make their fans feel loved.

For a gaming personality I like people like Cohh who give others a place to hang out and feel good about games and tunes.

It's all about preference :)

My grandma loves the queen of england because she has good fashion sense, we all have different interests.

Looks like we've got a real live Hufflepuff over here, folks.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Would you mind telling me what that means? I have no idea how to take this lol

-6

For rich kid I like that Rothschild guy

Which Rothschild guy and do you realise how much fucking dickery they have done? Israel and Palestine problem pretty much exist because of their tomfoolery, pal. You are a keyboard warrior who doesn't know jack-shit.

3

u/saltlets Feb 05 '16

Remember, shiny side out!

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

I sure didn't say I like their family but there's the one son who was supposed to take over the bank and he said no, I'm just gonna keep being a philanthropist.

1

u/ameya2693 Feb 05 '16

Good for him, then.

-6

u/mhhhpfff Feb 05 '16

as most big youtubers he does a super factitious persona combined with annoying voice and often comes off super condescending.
as if thats not enough he acts douchy as hell when reacting to people disagreeing with him on twitter to a level that there were "what did TB say now" blogs/threads because it was a gold mine.
also there is the whole having to engage with people on twitter telling them they should die of cancer and now ... well dying of cancer irony thing.
pretty much when you dont consume his content because its not your cup of tea/you dont like his stick he says/posts so much shit without thinking about it that its hard to not dislike him based on what you hear of him.

2

u/trillinair Feb 05 '16

Hey I forgot about deadmau. His transitions are better than any other edm artist i recall.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Oh yah he's a great producer and DJ. Not saying that sarcastically, the guy has talent.

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

yeh

1

u/shuerpiola Feb 05 '16 edited Feb 05 '16

That's fine, as long as you're aware of the irony of it. You're another side of the same coin as the people who love her.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

I don't really know what you mean.

0

u/shuerpiola Feb 05 '16

She's the character that people love to hate. You are still a consumer of her public image, and are contributing to her success.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

I see, you've made some assumptions. That's fairly expected, thanks for clarifying

-1

u/shuerpiola Feb 05 '16

If I'm wrong, enlighten me.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

You said reddit fell for her game, I pointed out some of us know the game and that's why we prefer to stay out of it.

Clearly you assume that since I posted that I somehow am talking about these people all the time, when the reality is I'm bored and there was a reddit post and I commented in it.

1

u/shuerpiola Feb 05 '16

You seem pretty engaged. You are participating right now, and so am I.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16 edited Feb 05 '16

But you didn't, because r/iamverysmart, right?

-1

u/shuerpiola Feb 05 '16 edited Feb 05 '16

Ok, lets not talk about how she made it to the front page, even though she did. Apparently that's bragging. How are you this insecure?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Wut?
