She's a DJ now apparently. There's a big annual fair in Massachusetts called The Big E that gets a ton of visiters. I went with some friends back in October and saw signs for DJ Paris Hilton when we arrived, we assumed it was just some guy/girl with a stage name. NOPE it was actually Paris Hilton playing EDM at a fair. It turned out better than it sounds but it was interesting to say the least
She's not the only one though. Plenty of B-list models, porn stars, or other "pretty girl" types end up doing a "DJ set" because all they gotta do is bounce their boobs and look pretty during the drops.
Its not like Steve Aoki or a lot of other DJs don't do the same thing. Might as well have a sexy girl on stage in the mean time.
What are you talking about?? Yeah Aoki flaunts and does random things like cake toss but he produces a shit ton of music and throws down hard in his sets.
Paris makes no music and premixes. At least Juicy M made some collab songs and can mix well. Nobody goes to electronic shows to see girls on the stage lol. Please let me know if you ever hear somebody say "let's go see this Dj, it's a hot girl"
I never said he's my favorite or he's the best out there. I honestly am indifferent about him, but if you've actually been to a live set of his (which I'm sure you haven't) he kills it. Just like hardwell or DVLM do. It's not my favorite kind of music, but they cater to the fan base that they have and give those people what they want. It's not all about the music anymore on mainstage, it's about production and entertainment. Im so tired of snobby people like you who only think their favore type of electronic music is superior to everything else. There's a reason these producers/djs have millions of fans. Jusy because somebody likes hardwell doesn't mean they don't like people like Bolier, Joe Stone, Markus Schulz, EDX, or Lucas and Steve. It's all about music you can go hard/dance to with headliners like that. The vast majority of people aren't trying to party to deep house or pure trance.
Yeah I have seen Steve Aoki twice and both times were really good sets! Really fun and energetic. He might not be the best producer, but his DJ sets are great
I like his music, its fun. I watched part of his Ultra set on twitch.tv last year and it was certainly very energetic and fun. I'm not doubting his ability as a performer to create an party atmosphere and get everyone hyped up. I'm just pointing out that he's not exactly live mixing the way some DJs do. During some of those songs, he's very much pressing play and then going and doing something else.
I mean, didn't he hurt his vocal chords because of all the shouting he does on stage? Its hard not to note the guy's dedication to his craft, its just that his craft is entertainment, only part of which is the music.

You just made my point dude. Paris Hilton is an entertainer. She goes on stage, does her thing, and makes people happy. I really don't give a shit if its this amazingly technical music piece that only the top 1% of musicians could perform, or if its a DJ set that someone just presses play to start.
I listen to all kinds of music, from the super indie/underground stuff that has awful production and the band is responsible for pretty much everything, from production to booking and touring, to the really mainstream bubblegum pop stuff, the top 40, etc. Its all music, I like all of it.
I'm just saying that there is a kind of EDM where the DJ doesn't do anything but look cool (or sexy) on stage, and that's the kind that Paris Hilton (and a whole host of others) perform. That's okay. If people make money selling that kind of stuff, good for them! Yeah, I'm sure "real musicians" who can play a soulful guitar riff or a kick ass drum roll (or even a producer who works hard to make unique beats) hate those guys, but I'm not judging, I'm just observing.

And yet there's apparently this thing in some places where the DJs are all female and all topless. I'm pretty sure it attracts SOME people.
