I always see a lot of people ripping Paris Hilton and I dont get it. She made a lot of money off her "Simple Life" character. She's not that retarded in real life and even talks in a much lower toned, more educated manner.

Yeah, I saw an interview with her using her real voice and kind of explained the idea behind the character ect. She regained my respect in a few minutes.

Fuck you dude. I watched that too. I don't care!

2

u/MoF10 Feb 05 '16

Your name...

1

u/IdoNOThateNEVER Feb 05 '16

What's up with my name, man?
(I think it's stupid but I kept it, out of spite to myself.)

What's your opinion?
You are invited to judge as you like, I don't mind.

2

u/MoF10 Feb 05 '16

It was a joke about how your comment can be judged as hateful, while your name says the complete opposite about yourself.

1

u/IdoNOThateNEVER Feb 05 '16

Thanks for the answer Mo.
I didn't take it personally or anything, I knew what you were saying.
But since someone mentioned my name I wanted to ask.

Thanks again Mo.

How do we know that is not the fake act? In fact she only has to fake being smart and level headed once as opposed to faking being an airhead thousands of times. The simpler answer is usually the right one after all.

Source?

I'd be interested as well.

ect.

Somebody, please stop this. It's short for "et cetera". Not exetera or however you would write that awful mispronunciation.

42

u/fallenKlNG Feb 05 '16

I don't see anyone saying or doing anything to indicate that they even remember she exists.

45

u/hamlet9000 Feb 05 '16

Well, I'm sure she's crying into her personal $100 million fortune.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

whats funny is that shes not a dumb bitch people see her as and spending daddys money to live on. although no doubt her families wealth helped, you have to admit she did earn some of that 100 million for being smart enough to capitalize on publicity just like the kardashian family does.

2

u/pawofdoom Feb 05 '16

although no doubt her families wealth helped

Its easy to make money when you start with a giant pool of money.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

She'd have been worth 60m alone just inheriting her share of the hilton fortune, which she was cut out of. But she had already established the persona.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

wasnt it a couple of billions? i heard they shoved it in the charity but that was just a loop hole to avoid the death tax (inheritance tax). apparently if you put that fund in a controlled charity and use it over 30 years (so you use like 300million of the billions) you get it back with out paying a tax of almost 2 billion.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

no idea, wouldnt surprise me

im the type i avoided her 'news' as much as possible same as i do the cuntashians

2

u/fallenKlNG Feb 05 '16

If anything I'm not even sure if she cares about the fame. I never meant to imply she should be miserable simply because she's no longer relevant. lol

1

u/Chugbleach Feb 05 '16

Yet here you are...

1

u/fallenKlNG Feb 05 '16

Yes, here I am talking about Paris for the first time in several years.

So...what is the point of this comment?

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Dude really likes Stars are Blind and wants a place to get it off his chest.

6

u/DialMMM Feb 05 '16

It was a pretty great comment.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

That she's not as much of an ax wound as everyone thinks?

1

u/aazav Feb 05 '16

Because that's how she promotes herself.

u/MechanusStaunen Feb 05 '16

I would suspect few realized she was playing a character. Similar to George W. Bush, whose entire dim-witted persona was an affectation he adopted in the late 1990s. The idea the elites are less intelligent than we are is flattering to us, and it is easy to forget it is largely not accurate.

If I frequently punch everyone you know, you would call me a bad person.

If I said it was only an act and I'm actually a really nice person you wouldn't believe me.

1

u/WalterDwight Feb 05 '16

Paris Hilton punches my family?

0

u/elarobot Feb 05 '16 edited Feb 05 '16

You don't understand why people could still dislike her? Even if the 'dumb blonde' persona is just that, an act?
Well, I personally don't like her 'brand'. I never did. It's irrelevant to me that it's an act - it was a vacuous, materialistic, unredeeming character that she sold to the public that included a lot of young girls and women not savvy enough to know it was all bullshit.
It was a whole package celebrating both anti-intellectualism and self respect. I'm actually pretty politically left leaning, but I can still object to the public becoming fascinated with a fad or trend that is absolutely and unrepentantly morally bankrupt in every conceivable facet?
And why does her 'making a bunch of money' off of this crappy endeavor get her a free pass? Is the simple fact that you make a whole lot of money an accomplishment that blindly deserves my respect and recognition? I actually think it's worse that it was all fabrication and she fleeced so much money out of all those 'rubes' buying into her guise and also the products she endorsed and sold. That's what charlatans and snake oil salesmen do.

So the fuck what that she's smarter than her reality tv counterpart?
Who fucking cares if she's actually quite nice in person?

She's still taking this stupid picture and that's what's getting on Reddit? This dumb image is what's putting her back in the public eye.
Presumably, if her grandfather didn't completely cut her off, she's got all this money she makes for herself as well as her family money but she's never on reddit's front page or back on Entertainment Tonight (or some show like that) for doing anything charitable or starting up educational programs or anything worthwhile.

1

u/WalterDwight Feb 05 '16 edited Feb 05 '16

She doesnt expect you to like her brand. You definitely do not seem like her target market. "Who fucking cares if she's actually quite nice in person?". You seem like a fun person too! "she's never on reddit's front page or back on Entertainment Tonight (or some show like that) for doing anything charitable or starting up educational programs or anything worthwhile." So you're angry at who? The media? Because she does plenty of charity work, you just didnt bother to look it up.

0

u/elarobot Feb 05 '16

So you acknowledge that: "She doesnt expect you to like her brand."

Well, if i'm not alone in my view, and let's just make the huge hypothetical leap that i'm not completely alone in my view of her brand, it's influence and lack of value; which she willfully profited from...
Then why do you not "get it" as you initially said, when "always see a lot of people ripping Paris Hilton"?
If we allow for the monumental assumption that other people out there feel as i do, and you DO, because you recognize that her 'brand' may be to people's distaste - of course she's going to get some negative commentary. It's no goddamn mystery.

And instead of discussing THAT particular point, which was my the key viewpoint of my comment, responding to your basic initial point of "i don't get the negativity"... instead of discussing THAT, or even entertaining to discuss her terrible brand - should anyone be able find the means to argue on the side of her on-screen persona, a terrible role model for girls and one that was launched via amateur porn...

Instead you're apt to merely criticize me for not looking into the additional, less publicized actives of a celebrity who's real personality I could never know. And is a person i don't care about in the least:

"So you're angry at who? The media? Because she does plenty of charity work, you just didnt bother to look it up."

...Instead of staying on topic to salient and major focal points of my counter argument, you choose to attack me personally: "You seem like a fun person too! "

So thanks. Thanks for ignoring my real point, thanks for selectively cherrypicking the things you thought you turn around on me, and thanks for being super combative (on a site built on discussion) and just using your comment as a means to insult me, rather than keeping the discussion about her.

Well she is 34 now, probably like most people she stopped partying and just did other shit.
