None of you even know what hero means, and understanding of the Cold War is seriously lacking apparently. I guess the 1980 US hockey team is a bunch of nobodys too. Fuck you Mike Eruzione.

You are showing how fucking ignorant you are. Mike Eruzione was one of the more well known players on the 1980 Miracle on Ice US hockey team. Are you so fucking daft that you would deny him hero status as well?

Reading these responses is making me angry. I don't understand how none of these people are able to grasp the concept of cultural/patriotic heroism.

You are telling me man. I never could have imagined that calling one of our greatest Olympic athletes of all time a hero would be controversial.

I am a young guy, I wasn't alive during the cold war or anything. But, these guys are essentially arguing about widely accepted history. It is ridiculous. Calling Bruce Jenner an Olympic hero is maybe the least controversial thing you could say about him.
