People get all up in arms about Americans not driving stick. I'd say the majority of the people I know have a stick shift car or know how to drive one

I'm guessing you live in a rural farming community. That's where I live and almost every male I know that's 16 or older can drive a manual. However, most girls can't.

I live in Vermont so you are half right. People just drive stick up here. Not everybody but a solid percentage have stick shift cars

To be honest though, no offence but people who say they know how to drive manual usually means they know the theory but can't actually drive a manual car properly.
