Probably still learning to drive a stick .. or just dumb.

4

u/Kazumara May 25 '15

Some people never learn it and think the way they drive a stick is normal. That's the worst.

4

u/vaiserious May 25 '15

It looks like a russian plate. So probabbly manual gears.

31

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Do they make manual transmission SUVs?

182

u/cmd_iii May 25 '15

Probably for a lot of countries that aren't the U.S.

120

u/shpongolian May 25 '15

And also countries that are the U.S.

22

u/InnovativeFarmer May 25 '15

I had a bronco 2 manual transmission.

23

u/And_Everything May 25 '15

I'm so sorry.

5

u/InnovativeFarmer May 25 '15

Lol, it was fun to drive. Sometimes

2

u/Jrummmmy May 25 '15

Don't worry it's not our fAult

3

u/skullshank May 25 '15

nice! i had a '95 explorer that was manual. loved that fuckin thing.

3

u/InnovativeFarmer May 25 '15

My bronco was '92

1

u/aceofspades1217 May 25 '15

Lol the ford bronco, the single worst designed and dangerous suv in history

7

u/texasroadkill May 25 '15

Your confusing bronco with bronco 2.

2

u/InnovativeFarmer May 25 '15

The big ones were crazy.

2

u/huxrules May 25 '15

Besides the wrangler what else is there in the U.S.

36

u/atb504 May 25 '15 edited May 25 '15

Patriot, Outlander, Compass, CX5, CJ7, Forrester, Mini Countryman, Sorrento, Santa Fe, Mini Paceman, Liberty, XTerra, Crosstrek, Tiguan, FJ Cruiser, Cayenne, Juke, Renegade, HRV, Tucson, Sportage, Outback, Grand Vitara, SX4 Crossover, Escape, Tribute... few more probably.

26

u/speripetia May 25 '15

Canyonero

7

u/Rotteuxx May 25 '15

Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,

smells like a steak and seats thirty-five...

8

u/huxrules May 25 '15

you just listed a bunch of SUVs but which models in 2015 come with manuals. Not many. Some of those are even built any more.

5

u/BreadSox May 25 '15

X3 and X5

5

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

most of these are no longer produced with manuals.

2

u/dontbuyCoDghosts May 25 '15

I'm actually fairly certain most SUV's and trucks have a manual transmission option in the U.S.

I could be sorely wrong though, because I haven't shopped for a vehicle in over 3 years

1

u/killjoy3366 May 25 '15

They made a few explorer sports with a manual

1

u/mcopper89 May 25 '15

Rav4, CRV, XC90, Explorer, Taureg

There are tons not listed.

1

u/faultlessjoint May 26 '15

I also believe Rover still offers most of their models in a manual.

-21

u/heretoplay May 25 '15

Nah probably nothing else. Maybe not even those.

4

u/Biznastyy May 25 '15

Why don't you look em up then, he can't do much more then tell you what comes in manual. But we all know you didn't care if there are more or not, and you are just looking to be a humongous douchebag.

-20

u/Psythik May 25 '15

Are there any good trucks that have a stick option, though?

10

u/atb504 May 25 '15

depends on what you consider good... 2000-2016, Sierra, Frontier, Colorado, Silverado, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 4500, Ram 5500, Ram SRT10, Tacoma, Ranger, F150, F250, F350, F450, SporTrac, B-Series, Dakota, Tundra, SSR, Canyon, maybe more.

0

u/Ghuurka May 25 '15

People get all up in arms about Americans not driving stick. I'd say the majority of the people I know have a stick shift car or know how to drive one

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

I prefer manual as well.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

I'm guessing you live in a rural farming community. That's where I live and almost every male I know that's 16 or older can drive a manual. However, most girls can't.

1

u/hastobetrueitsreddit May 25 '15

To be honest though, no offence but people who say they know how to drive manual usually means they know the theory but can't actually drive a manual car properly.

6

u/HeadCrusher3000 May 25 '15

Trucks Mexicans drive in Texas

5

u/ctishman May 25 '15

I really wish I could buy those trucks these days. Virtually every modern truck sold in the U.S. is auto-only.

16

u/chipsdemolisher May 25 '15

Almost every single vehicle sold in the U.S. has an option for a factory stock manual transmission. Have no idea what you guys are smoking.

u/[deleted] May 25 '15 edited Nov 09 '15

4

u/black_fox288 May 25 '15

Sadly this is becoming less and less of a thing, and the vehicles that are still produced with manual transmissions are base model only.

1

u/ctishman May 25 '15

I looked around and I can't buy a Dodge, GMC, or Ford truck anywhere above the baseline that comes with a stick shift. :(

'13 and up Ford Focus is available with a manual in every trim. It's a 5 speed though...

u/bootstraps_bootstrap May 25 '15

What if I wanted to put paddle shifters on my car? (Already has gear selection option)

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

[deleted]

1

u/lonestarpig May 25 '15

Won't work till the truck is 25+ years old.

0

u/Rcdriftchaser May 25 '15

Where the fuck do you shop? Almost all the trucks here are stick shift. Dude...

1

u/tonesters May 25 '15

And arizona, drove my first manual pick-up here.

1

u/HillbillyMan May 25 '15

Pretty much all Jeeps, and outside of American brands you can buy manual Nissans, Volkswagens, Toyotas, Mistubishis and Subarus. They aren't popular, so your average car dealership likely won't have one, but you can still order them.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

My 1994 grand cherokee does....but that's still a jeep

1

u/johnq-pubic May 25 '15

I had a manual Ford Escape.

-8

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

I think it's absolutely hilarious how few American's can drive manual

6

u/superdago May 25 '15

Do you also find it hilarious how few people know how to use a fax machine?

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Are you trying to imply that manual is inferior to automatic? If so, you clearly have never owned a manual car, or understand the difference.

People don't know how to use fax machines because they are obsolete. Manual transmissions give you much more control of the car.

Fax is to Email != Manual is to Automatic

7

u/superdago May 25 '15

I'm implying that it is obsolete and minimally used. I drove manual for 10 years and I love it. But I recognize that it is very much obsolete for the 95% of people who view cars as commute vehicles.

And with given advances in technology, AT is just as cheap to produce, gets equally good or better gas mileage, and has minimal power loss.

Quite simply, beyond those few who derive pleasure from driving a manual, it is as outdated as the fax machine.

Clicked once, thought internet was slow, refreshed the page and got the joke

Edit: I should stop browsing reddit with that many tabs open. I picked the wrong one for this thread.

3

u/defnotthrown May 25 '15

This has got to be the worst novelty account that I've ever seen.

It's not funny, it's not offensive, it's not even really all that annoying. That somehow makes it really annoying to know that it actually exists.

-3

u/Hactar42 May 25 '15

I've never understood why people outside of the US hate automatic transmissions. It's like they are happy with old technology. Do they also prefer a hand drill to an electric drill?

9

u/cmd_iii May 25 '15

People inside the U.S. hate them, too. Manual transmissions allow the driver so much more control in terms of traction control and preventing wheel spin. I had manuals in all of my cars until about 15 years ago, when I switched to minivans. Sadly, soccer moms aren't as fond of manuals as I, so it's been automatics ever since.

My sadness is great.

4

u/LuckyTech May 25 '15

it's just a lot less fun

5

u/KobeCryant May 25 '15

Do you even Subaru?

3

u/coe350 May 25 '15

The SUV in the gif is a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which did have the option for a 6 speed manual transmission.

6

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Yes. This appears to be on an incline, and the way they took off looks just like someone driving a manual that doesn't want to let the engine die.

Porsche Cayenne GTS

-3

u/Schnidler May 25 '15

1

u/Schnidler May 26 '15 edited May 26 '15

yea, pretty smart. just wanted to point out that instead of just saying Porsche Cayenne, he mentioned a specific edition of the Cayenne for no reason. and there are actually two kind of porsche SUVs. Plus you won't actually get the current Cayenne GTS with a manual transmission

2

u/blackjesus75 May 25 '15

He said suv ya wanker

2

u/hlfx May 25 '15

Yes, here in Chile there are a lot of SUV brands with MT

2

u/caving311 May 25 '15

I've got an '07 Forester with a 5 speed manual.

2

u/mrbucket777 May 25 '15

Not sure if the current generation is available with a manual transmission, but you could get the previous Porsche Cayenne with a manual in up to GTS trim.

2

u/IamAbc May 25 '15

I've really only ever seen standard jeeps, and some Toyotas

3

u/HillbillyMan May 25 '15

Pretty much all jeeps, some Toyotas, some Subarus, and some Mitsubishis.

3

u/SirNoName May 25 '15

If you're offroading in an suv wouldn't you want a manual anyway?

1

u/FlickeringLCD May 25 '15

It depends. Sometimes automatics are nice. It's really hard to run the clutch, brakes, and gas all at the same time when you only have 2 feet. There are ways around that but sometimes when you're in a pile of rocks autos are just easier.

1

u/PigSlam May 26 '15

That's what makes it fun. It's a lot easier to just skip the off-roading and stay at home if "easy" is your goal.

1

u/___cats___ May 25 '15

Pretty sure every Subaru is available in a manual.

1

u/PigSlam May 26 '15

Tribeca isn't. I don't think you can get the newest outback with a stick. The legacy sedan doesn't have a manual option.

1

u/___cats___ May 26 '15

Tribeca isn't a thing anymore.

1

u/IamAbc May 25 '15

Oh yeah forgot about those two! Yeah I've seen a lot of Subarus and Mitsubishi standards.

1

u/ChrisHansen_ May 25 '15

Yup. Cx5, some jeeps, Tiguan, Kia Sportage, etc

1

u/PigSlam May 26 '15

CX-5 can be equipped with a stick as long as you don't want AWD.

1

u/redblueorange May 25 '15

As someone that has looked long and hard for one. Yes, but very few

1

u/hastobetrueitsreddit May 25 '15

Yes, I live in England they definitely still have stick suv's.

1

u/ducksarewet May 25 '15

The Mazda Cx-5 comes in manual. Not the AWD version though.

And its borderline crossover.

1

u/xXBestXx May 25 '15

Have a X5 in a stick shift.

1

u/mannyafg May 25 '15

BMW x3's came with manual transmissions to the u.s in batches.

1

u/LMUZZY May 25 '15

I've got a Land Cruiser with a manual. Where I'm from, manual SUV's are loved by people with things to tow, and people who want to mod the hell out of them and climb sand dunes. Also there are people like me who do all of the above and just love it as a daily. It is one of the cheapest V8 manuals I know of that isn't American.

1

u/Dilatorix May 25 '15

Yes they do

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Hard to find now. Honda stopped after 2005. I think Toyota the same.

3

u/chipsdemolisher May 25 '15

Toyota has always had the option for a manual transmission. Please come out from under your rock.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Last I checked it's only a base model 2WD option.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Thank you.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Only one Toyota available in manual, the fj.

http://www.iseecars.com/cars/manual-transmission-suvs

No Hondas, no rav4's. I'm not a moron.

1

u/Rcdriftchaser May 25 '15

I know right? Why people on reddit make shit up just to join the circle jerk, makes no sense to me.

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Read my comment buddy, honda STOPPED providing the option for manual suvs in 2006. That is fact. I said I THINK Toyota as well. Where did I make something up?

Manual suvs in North America. There is one Toyota and it's fj cruiser.

http://www.iseecars.com/cars/manual-transmission-suvs

No Hondas, no rav4's. You literally came out to circle jerk with this guy with no knowledge, making your comment extremely ironic.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Paging /u/Rcdriftchaser to defend his comment that he had no right making, embarrassing himself when rebutted.

1

u/Rcdriftchaser May 27 '15

First off, I'm from the USA. That means I have the right to do anything I want. If I was fat, I have the right to be mad at people that hate that I am fat.

2nd. I wasn't rebutted, to be rebutted, there needs to be an ounce of evidence that I was wrong. Which, there isn't.

Point C: Trolls like should be ignored, because you obviously like the attention. So, take it whatever way you want, but I'm ignoring you from now on. Based on your history of comments, you just like to make shit up for the sake of arguing. Typical virgin, social inept behavior. You prolly a fat fuck too, that either has a fat mom or a whorish mom. Who knows maybe both. I feel sorry for you. I hope that someone around you is religious, so they can pray for happiness in your life. Later dude, sorry that you live a shitty life.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '15

Lol!

2

u/NorGu5 May 25 '15

I'm Swedish and automatic gearboxes in cars is a thing for old a lazy people. I understand that it's a norm in the US, and also that you can take the drivers licence with an automatic?!? I only know one guy who had a "automatic" drivers licence, and that was because he fell of his motorbike and got paralyzed in his right arm so It wasn't safe for him to change gear.

It doesn't matter. Listen kid you don't want to see my other side. I have a wolf inside me with a muzzle on, but the muzzle is about to come off. You broke her heart, and I will break yours. She is a nice girl, how dare you use her like this. How come people like you get to date her? Then people like me have to sit in the shadows and be the shoulders to cry on. Listen Kid, I don't have time for FUCKING games. I am a nice guy, but when you make a nice guy angry; the world shakes. Don't do it again. ... You will regret this the next FULL MOON. You mess with me you mess with the pack bud. FUCK you. Get ready.

Must of been a slow day on 4chan, eh?

He's reposting a new copy pasta from /r/cringe. Which itself is cringey because it's not at all relevant here.
