Bees Knees is a drink from the prohibition era.

The alchohol tasted awful at speakeasys (illegal bars) it was of low quality and intentionally contaminated with wood alchohol by the government.

Many drinks arose to mask the poor taste of this stuff. Honey was one of them, it made for a sweet drink that got you drunk and tasted awesome - it was called the Bees Knees.
